About
We were born into something none of us asked for, a strange little world with its own rules, music, and stories.
Instead of high school dances or class reunions, we had dance nights, inspiration, and things like Wordstock.
And yet here we are: older, wiser, funnier, and still ridiculously talented.
This summer, we’re taking one day to come together in San Diego for something we’ve never had before — Flatlander Fest — a music and storytelling festival just for us, the second-generation kids who grew up in that world.
- Live music from incredible musicians who share our story
- Storytelling that will make you laugh, and feel understood
- Great eats + cold drinks
- Dancing under the lights with people who get you
This isn’t about the group that shall not be named. No witnessing. No revival. No heavy baggage. Just joy, connection, and music that we feel like reclaiming for ourselves.
You’ll leave with a full heart, sore cheeks from laughing, and the warmth of reconnecting with old (and new) friends.
Mostly, you’ll remember: you’re not alone. You’re part of something rare and extraordinary.
Consider it our version of a long overdue class reunion, but only with the cool kids.

FAQ
Event Basics
What is Flatlander Fest? It’s a “class reunion” of sorts centered around music for those of us who grew up in the group that shall not be named.
When and where is it happening? July 18th, 2026 in sunny San Diego, CA at a venue called Wicked West.
What time should I arrive, and how late does it go? Right now, we have the venue booked from 2-10pm, but may extend depending on how many artists/guests RSVP.
Who is the event for? Second and third generation kids.
Are first generation adults invited? Sorry, no.
Can I bring a guest who didn’t grow up in the group? Yes, systemites are welcome.
How do I apply for tickets? Join the waitlist and we’ll send you a link to buy tickets soon!
Tickets & Admission
How much are tickets, and what does the price include? Early Bird tickets are $100 and available through May 31, 2026, or until they sell out. After that, General Admission tickets are $150. This gains you admission to the event.
Why do I have to apply instead of just buying a ticket? We don’t want just anyone to attend, and we’re curating our list of guests. However, if you’re 2nd Gen, you should be golden (assuming you’re not a felon).
How will I know if my application is accepted? We’ll add you to the “who’s coming” list (unless you opted out), and you’ll get a link to buy tickets.
Are tickets refundable or transferable? Because Flatlander Fest is a one-day, independently produced event, every ticket helps cover upfront costs like the venue, artists, and production – so tickets are non-refundable. However, we get that plans can change, so tickets are transferable. If you can’t make it, just let us know who will be attending in your place.
Music & Programming
Who’s performing? We’re still in the planning stages here, but you can check out the lineup page as things unfold.
What kind of music/storytelling can I expect? All kinds of music and funny stories. However, triggering inspiration songs are outlawed (unless it’s parody, and Shake Shake Shake can RIP).
Is there an MC? Yes! Our very own Peter Mastne (from Memory Lane fame).
Food & Drink
Will there be food and drinks available? Yes! Great drinks and food will be available for purchase.
Can I bring my own food or alcohol? Negative.
Travel & Logistics
Is there parking at the venue? There’s street parking, but it can be tight. We’ll share best parking as we get closer.
What’s the best way to get there (carpool, rideshare, etc.)? We recommend carpooling or Ubering/Lyfting.
Are there recommended hotels nearby? San Diego has no shortage of great spots to crash. Whether you’re looking for fancy boutique, comfy mid-range, or just a clean bed after a long night, you’ll find plenty of options within 10–15 minutes of the venue. We’ll share a few of our favorites as the event gets closer.
Will there be other events over that weekend to make my trip worth it? Yes! We know many of you will be traveling in, and we want to make the most of our time. We’re planning a few extra gatherings around the festival so there’ll be plenty of chances to connect beyond the main event. Stay tuned for details.
Policies & Atmosphere
What’s the dress code? No uniforms required here. Wear what makes you feel good. Just be ready for a day of hanging out, laughing, and maybe a little dancing.
Is the event family-friendly? Can I bring kids? This is mostly an adult event, however your baby or toddler is welcome if it means you can make it.
Is it okay to take photos or videos? Yes!
What’s the vibe – is this more of a concert, reunion, or party? Everything rolled into one. This is meant to be a fun reunion and time to connect, so please leave your heavy baggage at the door.
